Good things come to those who wait?

"'Good things come to those who wait' is an English phrase propounding the virtue of patience."

Good things come to those who wait? It's really a weird and sad statement. If you spend your life waiting for things to come to you, patient or not, aren't you actually missing out? I think that if one spends life waiting for something because they keep finding disappointment, in the end they will be unhappy and not find these good things. When it comes to life, you've gotta grab it by the horns, so to speak. Waiting around for something to come to you rarely reaps any benefits. If you want something "good," you generally have to work for it. You want that promotion? You have to work for it; it won't land on your desk. Are you falling for someone? TELL them. Yes, you may get rejected. If you do get rejected, that probably means it wasn't going to work out anyway, and you can move on and find what you're supposed to be looking for. And if you tell them and they understand, well, then you've worked for a good thing and now it's yours. The waiting may be the "hardest part," but if you just get out there and live life, you can live knowing you have no regrets and have made every attempt to really absorb life.
One man that knows all about grabbing good things while you can would be Sir Billy Joel.

Take "Only the Good Die Young."

"Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done.....
Only the good die young
That's what I said
Only the good die young

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
aw But that never hurt no one"

"They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the sinners are much more fun..."

Or "Vienna," my personal favorite...

"But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you"

so... Carpe Diem. "Seize the day." Good things come to those who work for them <3
