Ten to Change Your Mind

We all know those people that claim to like "every kind of music except country..." Well, 'Ten to Change Your Mind' is my attempt at trying to throw out that stereotype. Here are ten country songs, not necessarily any of my favorites, that I would love for you to check out (videos are here for your convenience!) then leave your honest opinion!

Copperhead Road - Steve Earle

In Color - Jamey Johnson

There Goes My Life - Kenny Chesney

Texas in 1880 - Foster & Lloyd

Write this Down - George Strait

Whatever You Say - Martina McBride

Time Marches On - Tracy Lawrence

A Little More Country Than That - Easton Corbin

Maybe it Was Memphis - Pam Tillis

Even the Man in the Moon is Crying - Mark Collie

I actually know most of these songs :) My parents like country too. I can definitely appreciate it!

I don't mind country but I don't listen to it often cause I can't relate to it as well as other genres.

Hi!
Thanks for the posting this! Cause I love country much, but I also love all other kinds of music (my favorite playlist includes Bright Eyes, Keith Urban, The Ropes, Alexz Johnson, and Joan Jett). I haaate when people throw in that "except country" thing.
I hate when people consider my musical tastes inferior because I listen to George Strait sometimes. It's maddening!
Also, Aerosmith is awesome. I love your musical tastes.
Thanks for posting a very entertaining blog. :D

Maybe It Was Memphis is one of my favorite songs!!!

I have never heard Copperhead Road referred to as country. Interesting. Always played on the classic rock station here in Texas, never played on the country station.

Love it! Maybe it was Memphis is a great song, but Kenny's always been my man, not sure he can write a bad song or maybe that's just my obsession with him speaking out for me :p

Too many people disregard country based on it's roots and the constant stream of negativity usually starting when kids get old enough to worry about what their friends will think if they listen to it, good for you for listening to whatever you want.

Can you upload Michael Jackson songs?

Yes - Blog of note still works for you. :)
I am sitting here in India and I can connect with a person across the seas - its liberating...
Why can I connect? Well partly because I too am editor-in-chief of my college newsletter...
I would like to converse more - over email - if I have your permission...

P.S. - Sorry my comment has nothing to do with this post. I did read your past 4-5 posts including the 25 things about you...

My favorite country band is Rascal Flatts. Anyone know them? I think they make great music!

Don't think I'll ever be my favourite.

Much prefer rock...

...everyone's different.

I used to be dead set against country, but after I actually started giving it a chance I realized it wasn't so bad and some of it was actually really really good! I love Martina!

I never really understood how people can like, "Every kind of music except country."

I mean, I could understand now liking old country music, but today's Country genre has such a heartbroken message, you'd think that most teenagers would thrive off of it.

Me, I grew up on Country music, so I've had a love for it since I was, well, in the womb. Of course, I also have a taste for 60s folk music thanks to my parents. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a freak of nature.

Either way, most kids rule country out without even giving it a try. No fair! :P

I also hate when people say that. I grew up on country - it forms my musical foundation and i'm grateful for it.

Country Music is the perfect genre for Summertime. All of the bright and sunny songs mixed with the few sad and rainy songs makes it a great soundtrack for all summer adventures.

I grew up on Country and it bothers me when people don't give it a chance. So, thanks for putting it out there!

I dont hate when people say that, i say that (with a little twist of i can take Taylor Swift from time to time) because my brothers, my mother and my sister-in-law and just about anyone here in my small town in northern New Hampshire listens to country music at least a little bit, and i cant stand it. i listened to your videos, i didnt like it haha sorry :) its the way i feel.

Hey Jessi, some of these songs I hadn't heard, but I listened anyway and I have to say GREAT PICKS! :)

I definately agree with you. Whenever I mention that I like country, I've had friends whose expressions change into confusion that seem to say "what?!" before words actually come out of their mouths. I simply smile and say yes:) I like country and enjoy it very much.

In my case it's "every kind of music except Rap and most R&B".

Odd how some people down Country yet Country singers and their fans are largely the most supportive of those who fight to protect us from terrorists.

I love country music with everything thing that I am. Great list, although personally I would have put Garth Brooks "Friends in Low places" on there.

I also hate when people say that and it's true like someone said country music has the largest fan base of any other type of music and do you know why that is??? cause it's AWESOME !!!
